Back boiler service
When we do any back boiler service we highly recommend a service on the fire in front even if you don’t use it that often. This is because as heat attracts dust and debris, it can get to the point where it clogs up the gas fire’s burner. To do a proper service on a back boiler you have to take the front fire off, but once that’s done it is the same as any other boiler.
All back boilers should have permanent ventilation of at least 100 square cm. Too many people forget this minor detail, but safety should always be priority number one. Flues go up through the chimney and terminate on the roof with a GC1 Terminal. Back boilers are difficult to fit and have lower outputs so they would only be useful for smaller homes up to 3 bedrooms. The clear advantage is that the boiler is hidden away, which means it wont be any kind of an eyesore.
If you have a back boiler older than 2 years old it will be inefficient and we would recommend changing but new ones are mainly High Efficencicy A rated and would deliver good value for money.
