Your Boiler’s Thermostat
Heating your home at the right temperature will keep you comfortable. At the same time, it can also help you save money by cutting your energy use. Properly and efficiently working heating controls are important to help you achieve this.
A central heating system should have a full set of controls including a boiler thermostat, a timer or a programmer, room thermostat/s, and TRV’s or thermostatic radiator valves. This applies to all gas, LPG or oil- fired central heating systems.
Wireless vs Wired Thermostat
Most hard wired and wireless thermostats can do the same functions:

- energy saving options
- touch screen display that’s backlit and easy to use
- an auto mode that will shift from heat to cool mode and vice versa
- permanent day and time settings
Wireless thermostats came in the simplest to much more complex models. The most basic ones will have a one remote mobile thermostat and one receiver that is connected to the heating or cooling unit. This will allow you to take the the thermostat where you want it to be in your home and your HVAC system will adjust accordingly.
More complex wireless thermostats can have up to four remote thermostats or sensors which you can put in each room or zone in your home. They will all be connected to the central receiver unit, allowing you to get hot or cold air, depending on the temperature needs of each room.
While most of these multi- thermostats are made for central heating systems, there are also models for window are conditioners, ductless furnaces and other heating, ventilation and air conditioning units.
